Into his high school years, Jeff discovered another hidden talent - he could sing, very well. After attending college, he toured the Northwest and Canada with his band. By the time he met his wife Cathy, he was at a crossroads in his life. An interested record company wanted to speak to him, and an offer to use his artistic talents colorizing video box covers and working on movie posters for MGM studios was on the table. "I never met with that record company, I wanted a career doing what I loved the most, so I chose the art world." Jeff quickly became known as "Sky King" to the Art Director, due to the intricate beauty of the skies that he painted. He was flown to an L.A. studio to paint murals of those famous skies on their walls. "Working in this field was a great opportunity for me, I colorized thousands of video box covers for MGM. I worked on movie posters like Stephen King's Pet Cemetery, Herbie the Love Bug for Disney, and the rock Band U2's Rattle and Hum album cover for Paramount Pictures to name a few."
Throughout his life, Jeff has won many competitions and prestigious awards for his Photographic retouch work, using dyes and detailed airbrush. Some of these awards include "Artist of the Year" from the Photographic Artist Guild of Washington State, and the "Fuji Masterpiece Award" awarded by Fuji Film at the Washington State Photographic Convention, which included artists from 8 Western States. Jeff is renowned nationwide as one of the top artists in this field.
Jeff explains "For years I painted everything to look photographic, but now-a-days I enjoy exploring the creativity of painting in a more animated fantasy style. It suits my personality and the love I have for the Hawaiian Islands! The Funky Frogs create emotion by using facial expressions from traditional animation techniques. I love the freedom of my characters doing human-like things, accented by a lot of color and a tropical feel."
Jeff lives on a small farm and enjoys harvesting wine grapes from his vineyard with his wife and kids and occasionally sings in small wine venues. "I am very thankful for my God given talent, and hope it creates happiness for you!"
